Kiwanis of Greater South Cobb

We had another fantastic meeting on Tuesday April 10th with two entities benefiting kids! Catherine Black talked about music therapy for special needs children and how she and other therapists are able to collect data on the effectiveness of the tool. It can be funded under IDEA, Individuals with Disabilities Education Act. Fulton County has 16 of the music programs, while Cobb and Gwinett have none. The predictability of song serves as a strong teaching tool!

Covenant House, an organization that serves homeless teens, was also a great resource to learn of through representatives, Georgia and Jillian. When teens age out of the foster system, it is often difficult for them to thrive in society after abuse and neglect over a period of time. The House provides a safe haven and structure to recover and be self sufficient.

Many thanks to our guests for their time and our members for their attendance.
